A chromatogram separates components under defined test conditions.
Separation, not a universal certificate
High-performance liquid chromatography separates components of a sample as they pass through a column. A stated area percentage generally depends on the detector, integration and method used. It is not automatically the mass fraction of peptide in the vial or proof that the main peak is the named compound.
Pair methods when needed
Studies of synthesis mixtures combined chromatography with mass spectrometry to characterise target and side-product peptides. Ask what method generated a headline purity figure, whether relevant peaks were resolved, and how the main peak was identified. A different method can reveal components that a single chromatogram does not resolve.
Treat HPLC purity, molecular identity and net content as separate results, each requiring its own evidence.
