A cell result and a human outcome answer different questions.
Match the model to the claim
An in-vitro assay isolates selected cells, receptors or biochemical reactions. It can help test whether a molecule interacts with a target under controlled conditions. It cannot, by itself, establish distribution through a body, safety or clinical benefit. The model, concentration range and readout determine the scope of the finding.
Different evidence levels
The GIP and GLP-1 receptor study used engineered receptor domains to investigate ligand binding and signalling. A separate retatrutide phase 2 trial measured outcomes in human participants. Neither type of study is interchangeable with the other: a mechanistic result gives a possible explanation, while a trial addresses defined clinical outcomes under its protocol.
State whether a claim comes from a cell assay, an animal study or a human trial, and keep its conclusion within that scope.
